Boulevard Courtyard

Located in Woodstock, the project focuses on the revitalisation of the central courtyard within the Boulevard Office Park, a space surrounded by busy commercial and office buildings. Despite its prime urban location and proximity to a bustling Spar, the courtyard has remained largely underutilised. Contributing factors include poor visibility, strong winds, a lack of shade and seating, and limited pedestrian access. Most notably, the absence of engaging activities has left the space dormant.

The project seeks to transform this underused courtyard into a vibrant, inviting hub by introducing a series of design interventions aimed at increasing its usability and appeal. A key objective was to improve comfort, visibility, and activation of the space through strategic enhancements.

The design introduces soft landscaping elements such as planters and shaded seating, complemented by atmospheric lighting to establish a more welcoming environment. A ribbon-like design concept flows throughout the courtyard, weaving together light, colour, and texture to draw people in and encourage movement and engagement. By extending these interventions into the heart of the space, the project reimagines the courtyard not just as a pass-through zone, but as a meaningful, everyday destination for office-goers and visitors alike
